Communidad Ponds

Communidad Fish Ponds - October 2007

The fish ponds lie south of the town of Communidad on the west side of the road to Belen. They consist of a series of rectangular ponds in fields adjacent to the road. Viewing is only from the road, which can be quite busy. We saw Laughing Falcon, hirundines and many of the regular waterbirds. It probably turns up the occasional less common waterbird.

Laughing Falcon
One of the first birds seen at the fish ponds

Ringed Kingfisher
Seen at the fish ponds and also at Panama Beach

Ruddy Ground Doves
Our only sighting of this species was at the fish ponds

Great Kiskadee
A common species seen most days

Green Heron
Good numbers were seen at the fish ponds
